Granite Ranch to Host
Bluebonnet CASA Crawfish Boil
Each year, CASA raises money to help neglected and abused children in our area. Currently, there are 34 children from our area in foster care. Mark your calendars for this year's crawfish boil which will be held on Saturday, May 5, at the beautiful Granite Ranch near Roosevelt. In addition to our regular fare of crawfish and hamburgers with all the trimmings, we will also be serving pit-baked pig. Tickets may be purchased from CASA board members Nol Dear and Jean Jacoby. The CASA association is a nationwide organization whose volunteers are appointed by the courts to advocate for the abused and neglected children. A recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice found nationwide that once a CASA volunteer is assigned, approximately 95% do not languish in long-term foster care. 90% of children do not reenter the child welfare system. Locally, Bluebonnet CASA works with children in the Kimble, Mason, McCulloch and Menard counties, with each of these counties appointing local resident to serve on the CASA Board. For more information contact Bluebonnet CASA (325-347-6474) about becoming a CASA volunteer or board member.
